Working With My Brain: A Series for ADHD Awareness Month

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and as the air is getting chillier and we’re closing in on Halloween, I’ve written a little series of posts on things I’ve noticed while learning to love and work with my own ADHD brain. These include things I’ve learned and discovered through my own lived experience and that I’ve helped clients with too. I’ve also written about some tricks and treats that I’ve used to help make my own life with ADHD a little easier. While some may be more polished than others, I’m practicing getting ideas out for the sake of sharing them. I’ll explain how I came to exploring them, covering things like:

  • ADHD and the Paradox of “Easy”

  • Acceptance is a Beautiful Thing: Knowing who you are and doing it on purpose

  • Using one’s phone for good (not evil): My experiments with NFC tags and the Apple Shortcuts App

  • When redundancy actually helps: Why I keep 4 calendars and am always taking notes

  • Just let me draw it: Why Structure Building is my favorite processing modality

  • From humility to respect: Turning forgetting names into an act of kindness

  • There’s a clock in every room in my house: Becoming friends with time.

I had a great time writing these, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them! Follow along if you’re curious, and Happy ADHD Awareness Month!
